Alcott Elementary - Pontiac Partnership

Our church partners with Alcott Elementary School in Pontiac, MI. There are many facets to this partnership including: tutoring, Media Center activities using the school's mobile library, weekly shopping for 20 families (called Shop N Drop), Baskets of Love (non-perishable food baskets given to families at Thanksgiving and Christmas) among other activities. If you are interested in helping with the Alcott partnership during this school year (2023-24) please contact Stephanie Kummer

Become a Shop 'N Drop Volunteer! Shop 'N Drop is done in 3 easy steps:

1. One shopper each week will shop for 20 families, spending $275-300 each.  That's a total of $15 per family.

2. Deliver your groceries to Alcott on Thursday morning.  Call the school to arrange a delivery time. You will be supplied a contact name and number at Alcott so that when you arrive at the school, someone will meet you at the front doors to unload the food.

3. Turn in your receipt to Antonia Kokkinakis at FPC to reimburse you for funds spent on groceries for Alcott families.

Our History

In the fall of 2006, Everybody's Church initiated a relationship with Louisa May Alcott Elementary School in Pontiac.  It began with a small cadre of tutors and has expanded to more than three-dozen tutors working with the students on a weekly basis.  In addition we have assisted in reopening their library, providing a computer lab, i-pads and funding for a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) program, appreciation meals for faculty, and food and clothing for children and families in need.

Prayers for the children, families and faculty of all Pontiac schools are always needed.
