Serving the World
First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham serves the world through grants reviewed and approved by First Foundation. These funds are directed to uses apart from day to day operations of the church to enrich the program and mission of the church by supporting projects which would not be possible through other church funding.
Recent grants extend from our local community to beyond the US borders and met the required criteria before they were considered. Grant applications have recently been approved in support of individual religious education, Baldwin Center, and additional Orff instruments for FPC. Local grants have included the Ecumenical Theological Seminary, an Interfaith Peace Program, Cornerstone School’s Early Childhood Development Program and the expansion of Rivertown, a division of Presbyterian Villages. International consideration has been given in the past to a nursing program in Haiti and the Yucatan Peninsula mission trip.
